Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, coccoid or oval cells, about 0.5-0.8 µm in diameter, occurring in pairs,
tetrads or clusters. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies were yellow-pigmented, circular, convex and non-translucent with entire
margins and 0.5–1 mm in diameter. Grows at 5-40 ºC (optimally at 30 ºC), pH 6.0-
10.5, 0-20% NaCl, 0-28% KCl, and 0-25% MgCl2 * 6H2O. Aerobic.
Isolated from non-saline forest soil collected in Hunan Province, China.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase, alpha-fucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, gelatin liquefaction,
H2S production, lipase (C8), alpha-mannosidase, nitrate reduction (nitrite is not reduced), acid production from D-glucose, glycogen,
maltose, D-salicin, starch and sucrose.
Can utilize as sole sources of carbon or nitrogen source: L-arabinose, dextrin, D-fructose, D-glucose, maltose and L-alanine.
Negative results for casein hydrolysis, alpha-chymotrypsin, cystine arylamidase, DNase, esculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), N-acetyl
beta-glucosaminidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, hypoxanthine hydrolysis, indole production,
leucine arylamidase, lipase (C14), lysine decarboxylase, alpha-mannosidase, methyl red test, oxidase, ornithine decarboxylase,
phenylalanine deaminase, naphthol-AS-BI phosphohydrolase, starch hydrolysis, trypsin, Tweens 20, 40, 60 and 80 hydrolysis,
urease, valine arylamidase, VogesProskauer tests, xanthine hydrolysis, acid production from N-acetylglucosamine, L-arabinose,
adonitol, cellobiose, dulcitol, D-fructose, glycerol, D-galactose, myo-inositol, lactose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, melezitose, melibiose,
raffinose, L-rhamnose, D-ribose, trehalose, D-sorbitol, D-xylose, and xylitol.
No utilization of cellobiose, D-galactose, glycogen, lactose, D-mannose, melezitose, melibiose, raffinose, L-rhamnose, D-ribose,
sucrose, trehalose, D-xylose, adonitol, glycerol, myo-inositol. D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, salicin, butyrate, citrate, formate, fumarate,
gluconate, malate, malonate, propionate, succinate, acetamide, L-arginine, L-asparagine, L-glutamic acid, L-glycine, L-histidine,
hydroxy-L-proline, L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-methionine, L-proline, L-serine and L-valine.
