Mesocricetibacter intestinalis Christensen et al. 2014, type species of the genus.

Synonym: Bisgaard taxon 24.
Gram-negative, pleomorphic rods. Non-motile.
Colonies are greyish, shiny, regular and circular, with smooth appearance, 0.5-1.5
mm in diameter after 48 h of aerobic incubation at 37 ºC. Adherence to the blood agar
may occur. Beta-haemolysis is not produced. X and V factors are not required.
Facultatively anaerobic. Can grow on MacConkey agar. Growth is not observed with
KCN.
Isolated from caecitis of a Syrian hamster.

xylose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, Simmons’ citrate, alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-
glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, H
2S production (TSI), lysine decarboxylase, alpha-mannosidase, ornithine
decarboxylase, phenylalanine deaminase, Tweens 20 and 80 hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer test, beta-xylosidase, acid production
from: L(+) arabinose, adonitol, amygdalin, arbutin, D(+) arabitol, cellobiose, dulcitol, dextrin, aesculin, i-erythritol, L(-) fucose, D(+)
glycogen, inulin, maltose, melibiose, L(-) sorbose, starch, salicin, trehalose,  L(-) xylose and xylitol.

Variable results for acid production from D(-) arabinose, mucate, L(+) rhamnose and  raffinose.
