Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pasteurellales, Family Pasteurellaceae, Genus
Actinobacillus, Actinobacillus vicugnae Kirchner et al. 2019.
Gram-negative, rods. Non-motile.
Colonies are grey, slightly sticky, entire, non-pigmented, 2-3 mm diameter after 18 h
aerobic incubation at 37 ºC. Produce beta-haemolysis on sheep blood agar.
Colonies on MacConkey agar are small, red, lactose fermenters. V-factor independent
growth.
Isolated from alpaca (Vicugna pacos) in the UK.
The type strain was isolated from oesophageal ulceration of an alpaca.
