decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis, Tween 80 hydrolysis, acid production from dextrin, D-glucose, L-rhamnose and D-xylose.
Can utilize: D-ribose, D-galactose, L-arabinose, sorbose, cellobiose, melezitose, melibiose, aesculin and amygdalin.

Negative results for carboxymethylcellulose hydrolysis, gelatinase, H
2S production, indole production, nitrate reduction, oxidase,
ornithine decarboxylase, phenylalanine deaminase, urease, Tween 20 hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from:
D-fructose, D-galactose, myo-inositol, D-mannose, maltose, trehalose, D-mannitol and salicin.
No utilization of lactose, sucrose, maltose, D-fructose, trehalose, raffinose, D-mannose, turanose, glycerol, D-erythritol, D-arabitol,
D-mannitol, sorbitol, D-xylitol, adonitol, myo-inositol, inulin, salicin, N-acetylglucosamine, gluconate, acetate and methyl
alpha-glucoside.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative, round-ended rods, 0.6-0.8 x 0.7-1.1 μm. Non-motile. Non-spore-
forming.
On Luria Bertani agar plates, produces dry, yellow, circular, convex, translucent, hard,
wrinkled colonies and approximately 1.0-2.5 mm in diameter within 2 days at 30 ºC.
Fluorescent pigments are not produced on King’s medium B. The temperature, pH and
NaCl ranges for growth are 5-42 ºC (optimum, 30-37 ºC), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0-
8.0) and 0-2% NaCl (optimum, 0-1 %). Good growth occurs on nutrient agar,
MacConkey agar and Simmons’ citrate agar.
Isolated from a desert soil sample in China.
Resistant to vancomycin. Sensitive to streptomycin, penicillin G, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline, ofloxacin,
amoxicillin, cefamezin, rifampicin, gentamicin, ceftazidime, kanamycin, carbenicillin and polymyxin B.
