Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, caseinase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), gelatinase, leucine
arylamidase, nitrate reduction, naphthol-ASBI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, hypoxanthine hydrolysis, Tween 80
hydrolysis.
Can assimilate maltose, caprate, L-malate, lactic acid, L-alanine, glycogen, D-glucose, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, and L-proline.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, chitinase, cystine arylamidase, DNase, aesculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase,
beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, H2S production,
indole production, lysine decarboxylase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase, ornithine decarboxylase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin,
urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from glucose, D-mannitol, inositol, D-sucrose, D-sorbitol,
L-rhamnose, D-melibiose, amygdalin and L-arabinose.
No assimilation of L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, D-gluconate, adipate, phenylacetate, L-rhamnose,
D-ribose, D-sucrose, inositol, itaconic acid, suberic acid, sodium malonate, sodium acetate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, 3-hydroxybenzoic
acid, L-serine, salicin, D-melibiose, L-fucose, D-sorbitol, propionic acid, valeric acid, L-histidine and 3-hydroxybutyric acid.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.4-0.6 x 1.8-2.5 µm. Motile by one polar flagellum.
Colonies on glucose-peptone agar medium are yellow-brownish pigmented, smooth,
translucent,3-5 mm in diameter. Pyocyanin or fluorescent pigments are not produced
on King A or King B media. Growth occurrs in 0-5% NaCl (optimal is 0.5-1%) and at
5-37 ºC (optimal is 28-30 ºC), and no growth at  above 37 ºC. The pH range for growth
was 6.0-9.5 with an optimum of 7.0-8.0. Grows on R2A, TSA, and MA agar and in TSB
and MB broth. Aerobic.
Isolated from a sediment sample collected from the Sea of Japan seashore, Russia.
Susceptible to: gentamicin, kanamycin, neomycin, ofloxacin, rifampicin, streptomycin, cephazolin and cephalexin. Resistant to
ampicillin, benzylpenicillin, vancomycin, carbenicillin, lincomycin, oleandomycin, chloramphenicol, nalidixic acid, oxacillin, polymyxin
B, tetracycline, doxocycline and erythromycin.
