Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas graminis Behrendt et al. 1999.
Gram-negative, aerobic, nonspore-forming, straight rods (0.5-1.0 by 3.5-5.0 μm),
motile by one polar flagellum (motile at 15 and 20 ºC; nonmotile at 30 ºC).
Colonies are yellow, glistening, moderately convex and round with entire edges.
Beta-hemolysis of sheep blood is negative. Does not produce fluorescent pigments
on King medium B. Does not produce levan from sucrose. Growth temperature 15-30
ºC. Can grow at 4 ºC but not at 42 ºC. Media: King medium B, Mac Conkey agar.
Isolated from the phyllosphere of grasses in Germany.
