Description is based on API 20 NE, API ZYM, EcoPlates and Biolog GN2 results.
Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C14), leucine arylamidase,
naphthol-AS-BI- phosphohydrolase, oxidase, valine arylamidase (weak), and glucose fermentation.
Can assimilate DL-lactate, acetic acid, propionic acid, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, pyruvic acid methyl ester,
itaconic acid, alpha-ketobutyric acid, Tweens 40 and 80, L-serine (weakly), L-alanine and sebacic acid.
Negative results for amylase, arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase,
beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, H2S production, indole production, nitrate reduction, gelatinase, lysine dihydrolase,
ornithine dihydrolase, tryptophan deaminase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, cystine arylamidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase,
alpha-mannosidase, starch hydrolysis, urease, acid production from amygdalin, L-arabinose, glucose, inositol, mannitol, melibiose,
rhamnose, sorbitol and sucrose.
No utilization of m-inositol, D-sorbitol, glycerol, L-histidine, malonic acid, D-arabitol, D-fructose, sucrose, trehalose, L-leucine, citrate,

Gram-negative rods, 0.7-0.9 x 1.1-1.7 μm. Motile.
Colonies on R2A agar are white, round, convex, smooth and with entire margins
(1.5-2 mm in diameter after 6 days at 20 ºC). Pigment is not produced. Good growth
occurs in R2A liquid medium at 5-30 ºC (highest cell yields at 10-20 ºC); growth at 1
and 37 ºC is absent in R2A liquid culture and on R2A agar plates. On R2A agar,
growth occurs at pH 7-8 and with 0-7% (w/v) NaCl; growth is delayed with 10% (w/v)
NaCl and absent with 15% (w/v) NaCl.
Isolated from soil contaminated with hydrocarbons and heavy metals in Bozen, South Tyrol, Italy.
Resistant to tetracycline and erythromycin. Sensitive to kanamycin, amikacin, gentamicin, streptomycin, ampicillin, nalidixic acid,
chloramphenicol and rifampicin.
