Description is based on API 20 NE, API ZYM and Biolog GN2 results.
Positive results for catalase, esterase lipase (C8), leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase and Tween 80
hydrolysis.
Can assimilate: caprate, adipate, Tween 40, Tween 80, methyl pyruvate, acetic acid, DL-lactic acid, propionic acid, sebacic acid,
succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid, D- and L-alanine and L-glutamic acid (other Biolog GN2 test are negative).
dextrin, L-arabinose, alpha-D-glucose, methyl pyruvate, mono-methyl-succinate, acetic acid, cis-aconitic acid, citric acid,
D-galacturonic acid, D-glucuronic acid, succinic acid, bromo succinic acid, succinamic acid (weak), L-alaninamide (weak), D-alanine,
L-glutamic acid (weak), L-leucine, L-proline.
On basal medium agar utilizes acetate, pyruvate, propionate, 2-oxoglutarate, succinate, fumarate, malate, lactate, L-glutamate and
L-alanine (other tests are negative).
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, alginate hydrolysis, casein hydrolysis, DNase, esculin hydrolysis,
beta-galactosidase, gelatinase, indole production, lipase (C14), trypsin, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis, urease and glucose
fermentation,
No assimilation of D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, potassium gluconate, malic
acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid.
No utilization (Biolog GN2) of:alpha-cyclodextrin, glycogen, lactulose, -hydroxy butyric acid, alpha-hydroxy butyric acid, itaconic acid,
quinic acid, L-asparagine, L-pyroglutamic acid, D- and L-serine, gamma-Amino butyric acid, thymidine and glucose-6-phosphate.

Gram-negative, short rods, 0.5-0.9 x 0.8-1.9 μm . Motile by a single polar flagellum.
Does not accumulate PHB granules.
Colonies on Marine Agar are smooth, beige, with regular edges. Not pigmented on
King A or King B media. Grow at 15 and 37 ºC, but not at 4 or 40 ºC. Growth is observed
in 0-15% NaCl. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from Mediterranean seawater off the coast of Vinaroz, Castellon, Spain.
