Genus Pseudomonas,
Pseudomonas kielensis Gieschler et al. 2021.
Gram-negative rods, 0.9-1.7 x 2.5-4.7 µm. Motile by one polar flagellum.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are 1.0-2.0mm in diameter, smooth, beige, shining and round after
incubation at 30
ºC for 24h on TSA. Beta-haemolysis is not produced on Columbia
agar supplemented with 5% sheep blood. Grows on R2A agar and under anaerobic
conditions but not on cetrimide agar. Fluorescent pigments are not produced on King
A and B. Grows at temperatures between 4-30 ºC (optimum 20-25 ºC), at pH values
6.0-8.0 (optimum pH 6.5-7.5) and in the presence of 0-4% (w/v) NaCl (optimum
0.5-1.0%).
Isolated from raw cow's milk in Germany.
Undetermined.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, citrate utilization, nitrate reduction, oxidase and Voges-Proskauer reaction.
Can utilize as sole carbon source: glycerin, L-arabinose, D-ribose, D-xylose, D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, inositol and sucrose.
Assimilation of D-tagatose, D-fucose and 5-ketogluconate is weakly positive.

Negative results for beta-galactosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, H
2S production, indole production, denitrification,  lysine decarboxylase,
ornithine decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis, tryptophan deaminase and urease.
No utilization of: erythritol, D-arabinose, L-xylose, D-adonitol, methyl beta-dxylopyranose, D-galactose, L-sorbose, L-rhamnose,
dulcitol, D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, methyl alpha-D-glucoside, N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, arbutin,
aesculin, salicin, cellobiose, maltose, lactose, melibiose, trehalose, inulin, melezitose, raffinose, starch, glycogen, xylitol,
gentiobiose, turanose, D-lyxose, L-fucose, D- and L-arabitol, potassium-gluconate and 2-ketogluconate.
