Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas libanensis Dabboussi et al. 1999.
Colonies on nutrient agar are smooth, circular and non-pigmented. Non-haemolytic
on blood agar. Growth temperature ranges between 4 and 36 ºC; optimal at 30 ºC.
Growth occurs in the presence of 3% NaCl but not in 7 % NaCl. It is able to form levan
from sucrose.
Gram-negative, nonspore-forming rods, motile by one polar flagellum. Cells produce
a fluorescent pigment on King B medium, but not phenazine pigments on King A
medium. Poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate is not accumulated as a carbon reserve material.
Isolated from Lebanese spring waters.
