Gram-negative rods, 0.4-0.5 x 0.8-1.3 µm. Motile by a single polar flagellum.
Colonies after 2 days incubation on R2A agar (Difco) at 25 ºC are circular, smooth,
convex and yellowish. Yellow pigment produced. Growth occurs on TSA, but not on
MacConkey agar. Optimum growth temperature is 25 ºC. No growth at 4 or 37 ºC.
NaCl is not required for growth.
Isolated from soil of a ginseng field in Pocheon province (Republic of Korea).
It is the causal agent of bacterial gall of carrots (Daucus carota L.).
The tobacco hypersensitivity reaction is negative.
