Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative, oval or short rod-shaped cells, 0.5-0.8 x 1.3-3.2 μm. Motile by single
polar fagellum.
Colonies are yellow, smooth, circular and 2.0-2.5 mm in diameter on Marine Agar for
3 days. Grows at 4-35 ºC (optimum 25 ºC), at pH 7.0-9.0 (optimum pH 8.0) and in the
presence of 0-11% NaCl (optimum 4% NaCl). No production of pyocyanin or
fuorescent pigments. Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from oil production water coming from Qinghai Oilfeld in the Tibetan Plateau, northwestern China.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), leucine arylamidase,
naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase and valine arylamidase.
Can utilize as sole carbon source (Biolog GN III): D-sorbitol (weak), gelatin, tween 40, formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, L-lactic
acid, citric acid, malic acid, acetoacetic acid, methyl pyruvate, D-fructose-6-phosphate, beta-hydroxy-D,L-butyric acid,
alpha-hydroxy-butyric acid, alpha-keto-glutaric acid, bromo-succinic acid, alpha-keto-butyric acid, L-alanine, L-glutamic acid and
serine.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase,
beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, gelatinase, H2S production, lipase, lysine decarboxylase, alpha-mannosidase,
nitrate reduction, ornithine decarboxylase, trypsin, urease and Voges-Proskauer test.
No utilization of: sucrose, dextrin, inosine, myo-inositol, D-arabitol, D-mannitol, D-fructose, L-rhamnose, D-cellobiose, D-raffinose,
D-melibiose, D-galactose, D-trehalose, alpha-D-lactose, D-gluconic acid, glycyl-L-proline and glucuronamide.
