Positive results for catalase, leucine arylamidase and oxidase.
Can oxidize L-arabinose, D-fucose, D-galactose, D-glucose, D-mannose, D-ribose and D-xylose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, aesculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase,
alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, H2S production, indole production, lipase,
alpha-mannosidase, nitrate or nitrite reduction, naphtol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, trypsin, urease and
valine arylamidase.
No utilization of: citrate, glycerol, erythritol, L-xylose, D-adonitol, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, D-fructose, L-sorbose, dulcitol, inositol,

Basonym: Oblitimonas alkaliphila Drobish et al. 2016.
Gram-negative, pleomorphic cells, alternating between both cocci and bacillary forms,
depending on the age of the culture. Non-motile.
Colonies on HIA with 5% rabbit blood are convex, circular in shape and around 1-2 mm
in diameter. Produce a light brown pigment on heart infusion tyrosine agar. Growth
occurs at 10-42 ºC (optimum, 20-35 ºC). Optimal growth occurs after incubation for 48 h
at 35 ºC in a candle jar. It is able to grow under alkalitolerant conditions; up to pH 11
(optimal is pH 7.5). Growth occurs in the presence of 0-8% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 4-6%).
Grows on MacConkey agar and Salmonella Shigella agar, but not on Cetrimide agar.
Aerobic, microaerophilic.
Isolated from human urine (3 strains), leg tissue (2 strains), foot wound, lung tissue and deep liver.
