Gram-negative, straight rods, 0.6-0.8 x 1.8-2.3 µm, occurring singly and in pairs. Motile
by a polar flagellum. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are 1.5-2.0 mm in diameter, raised, circular-shaped, and cream-colored
after 48 hours incubation at 25 ºC on Luria Bertani (LB) agar. Non-haemolytic. No
diffusible fluorescent pigment is produced on King B. Growth occurs at 4-30 ºC with
an optimum at 28 ºC, and at pH 4.0-10.0. Tolerant to 0-7% NaCl (w/v) in LB broth.
Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from soil obtained from Lagoon Island, Antarctica.

lactone, D-galacturonate, D-gluconate, D-glucosaminate, D-glucuronate, beta-hydroxy-butyrate, alpha-ketoglutarate, D, L-lactate,
propionate, quinate, D-saccharate, bromo-succinate, glucuronamide, D- and L-alanine, L-alanyl-glycine, L-asparagine, L-aspartate,
L-glutamate, glycyl-L-glutamate, L-histidine, L-leucine, L-ornithine, L-proline, L-pyroglutamate, D- and L-serine, carnitine,
gamma-aminobutyrate, urocanate, inosine, uridine, putrescine, 2-aminoethanol and glycerol. Weak utilization of
N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, L-phenylalanine, and D,L- alpha-glycerolphosphate.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, esculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), beta-galactosidase, indole production, valine
arylamidase, nitrate reduction.
No utilization of maltose, adipate, phenylacetate, alpha-cyclodextrin, dextrin, glycogen, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, adonitol,
D-cellobiose, i-erythritol, gentiobiose, alpha-D-lactose, lactulose, maltose, D-melibiose, bet-methyl-D-glucoside, D-psicose,
D-raffinose, L-rhamnose, turanose, xylitol, formate, alpha-hydroxybutirate, gamma-hydroxybutyrate, itaconate, alpha-ketovalerate,
malonate, sebacate, glycyl-L-aspartate, L-threonine, thymidine, phenylethylamine, 2,3-butanediol and glucose-6-phosphate.

Variable results for utilization of succinate, mono-methyl-succinate, L-alaninamide, succinamate, p-hydroxyphenylacetate,
hydroxy-L-proline and glucose-1-phosphate.
