Aslam et al. 2007.
Gram-positive cocci, 1.0-2.0 μm, occuring singly, in pairs, tetrads or clumps. Non-
motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on R2A supplemented with 5 % NaCl for 2-4 days are smooth, circular,
orange-coloured with transparent edges and 1-2 mm in diameter. Strictly aerobic.
Growth occurs at pH 6.5-11.0; optimum at pH 7.0. Moderately halophilic; Growth
occurs in media containing 0.5-15% NaCl; optimum 5% NaCl. No growth occurs in
the absence of NaCl. Grows at 20-30 ºC; optimal growth at 30 ºC.
Isolated from jeotgal, a traditional Korean fermented seafood.
Resistant to ampicillin (100 μg), tetracycline (100 μg), rifampicin (100 μg) and kanamycin (100 μg).
Undetermined.
