Gram-positive cocci, grouped in short chains. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Alpha-hemolytic, small (0.3-0.8 mm in diameter) colonies after 48 hour
incubation.Grow at 37 ºC. Facultatively anaerobic. Grow on Trypticase soy agar with
5% sheep blood.
Isolated from human clinical samples: oral cavity (tooth surface) and pharynx.
