Gram-negative, oval-shaped cells, 0.9-1.3 x 1.5-2.1 μm, motile by a single polar
flagellum.
Colonies are smooth, circular to slightly irregular, pale yellow-coloured, glistening,
flat, 2.0-4.0 mm in diameter (3 days at 30 ºC). Grows on marine agar and broth 2216E
Becton Dickinson. Is unable to grow in the absence of Na+. Grows in marine broth
with 2-6%  NaCl (2-3 % NaCl optimum).
Anaerobic, temperature 4-41 ºC, (optimum 25-30 ºC), optimum pH 7.5-8.5 (can grow
at pH 5). Not bioluminescent.
Isolated from a tidal flat sediment at Saemankum,  Korea. Not susceptible to Oleandomycin or Tetracycline.

Only one strain tested: the type strain, DF-42T.

Positive results for nitrates reduction, starch hydrolysis, aesculin hydrolysis, Tweens 20, 40, 60, 80 hydrolysis, indole production,
catalase (weak), oxidase, arginine dihydrolase, alkaline phosphatase, esterase/lipase, esterase, leucine arylamidase, cystine
arylamidase, acid phosphatase, acid production from: myo-inositol, D-xylose, D-ribose, sucrose, D-fructose and D-cellobiose.
Utilize: D-glucose, L- malate, citrate, succinate, salicin and pyruvate.

Negative results for ornithine decarboxylase, lysine decarboxylase, urease, xanthine hydrolysis, casein  hydrolysis, hydrolysis of  
gelatin, lipase, valine arylamidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, alpha-fucosidase, production of H
2S,
acid production from:  D-glucose, D-galactose, D-mannose, lactose, maltose, mannitol, D-trehalose,  D-raffinose, D-sorbitol,
melibiose and L-arabinose. No utilization of: acetate, L-arabinose, L-glutamate and formate.
