Gram-negative, non-sporulating rods, 0.2-0.5 / 1-2.5 μm. Nonmotile.
Colonies are smooth, non-pigmented, 1-2 mm in diameter after 24 h of incubation on
5% sheep blood Columbia agar under micro-aerophilic conditions (5-10% CO
2) at 37
ºC. Can grow at 30-41 ºC, optimally at 36-37 ºC. CAMP test is negative. Grow
aerobically, microaerobically and anaerobically. No growth on MacConkey agar.
Isolated from pharynx of apparently healthy domestic or feral pigeons (Columbia livia f. domestica).
Sensitive to chloramphenicol,  trimethoprim,  sulfamethoxazol, ampicillin, amoxycillin, erythromycin, lincomycin, enrofloxacin,
tetracycline, doxycycline. Resistant to aminoglycosides (neomycin, gentamicin, spectinomycin), polypeptide antibiotics (colistin
sulphate, polymyxin B) and sulphonamide.
Undetermined.
