Basonym: Pseudomonas doudoroffii Baumann et al. 1972.
Gram-negative rods, 0.7–1.2 x 2.0–2.5 µm. Motile by up to three polar flagella.
Can grow on Marine agar. Accumulates poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate. Isolated in liquid
medium containing allantoin, benzoate, creatine, caprylate, or D-aminovalerate.
Require Na+ for growth. Growth temperature 10-41ºC.
Isolated from Pacific Ocean surface water.

gamma-aminobutyrate, D-aminovalerate, L-arginine, L-aspartate, benzoate, betaine, butylamine, caprate, citrate, creatine,
ethanol, D-fructose, fumarate, L-glutamate, glutarate, DL-glycerate, glycine, glycolate, histamine, L-histidine, DL-beta-hydroxybutyrate,
alpha-ketoglutarate, DL-lactate, DL-malate, L-ornithine, phenol, L-proline, putrescine, pyruvate, L-serine, sarcosine, spermine and
succinate.
Negative results for arginine hydrolase, beta-galactosidase, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, urease, indole production, glucose
fermentation, utilization of galactose and glycerol.
Some strains can utilize D-ribose.
